Cybersecurity Sales Engineer

Summary Purpose
The Sales Engineer is responsible for meeting the Cybersecurity business unit sales targets by actively seeking and securing new opportunities, reselling to existing customers, and collaborating with the Business Development team as a subject matter expert to provide technical feedback and solutions. The Sales Engineer will nurture relationships with existing clients through the delivery process to ensure all project expectations are met and to provide consultative delivery support as assigned. This position operates under the direction of the Director of Sales & Marketing with latitude for independent action and decision within existing Company administrative policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Functions
  1. Exceed sales targets by selling Company’s Cybersecurity products and services to manufacturers in the assigned territory and providing technical sales support to the Business Development team.
  2. Identify, establish, and manage relationships with third party partners.
  3. Create and deliver technical sales presentations to customers, outlining the capabilities of Company’s products and services.
  4. Effectively communicate Company’s value proposition from the owner/president to the manufacturing floor, developing relationships with key stakeholders through face-to-face interactions, phone and/or electronic correspondence.
  5. Design and implement a strategic business plan, with the guidance of the Director of Sales & Marketing and Director of Cybersecurity, to acquire new customers and recognize sales opportunities with existing customers. 
  6. Conduct follow up with existing customers to gauge satisfaction, upsell services, obtain referrals and set up the next sale (project).
  7. Identify and prospect sales leads in the assigned territory.
  8. Attend industry functions, such as association events, trade shows and conferences, to uncover sales leads, improve the professional network and increase market awareness of Company.
  9. Participate in sales forecasting for the department and use industry and customer knowledge to identify areas of potential growth.
  10. Assist with the development of new sales and marketing strategies and participate in the development of marketing collateral and campaigns.

Secondary Functions
  1. Utilize the CRM system to maintain records of customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, orders, support issues, comments, action requests, and follow up activities.
  2. Identify market trends, competitor analyses, and customer needs to provide input to the marketing and support teams on new services and feature requests.
  3. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  4. Support the Company survey process with customers.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years in a technical support role or technical sales role, preferably in a manufacturing/industrial setting

Required Skills/Competencies:
  • Familiarity of cybersecurity compliance frameworks
  • Ability to understand and communicate with manufacturing personnel to help develop solutions to customer needs applying Company cybersecurity products
  • Effective in updating, maintaining, and leveraging CRMs (HubSpot)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Goal-oriented and self-motivated
  • Able to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Comfortable being a team player or a leader depending on the situation
  • Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines

Preferred Skills:
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Experience in IT/Cybersecurity or technical project sales
  • Experience in project leadership/management
  • Understanding of NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, or CMMC controls
  • Cybersecurity/Technical Certification(s)

Communication Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively in English (written and spoken) with client personnel and employees at all organizational levels and in a variety of environments, including group presentations.  Must be able to develop effective working relationships with staff and a network of technical resources.

Reasoning Ability:
Individual must be a team player with the ability to exercise independent, sound judgment and discretion; ability to independently solve problems, be able to plan; be well organized with the ability to multi-task; work well under pressure; take initiative and be flexible and cooperative.

Work Environment:
Normal office environment. Travel (20%+) may be required to accomplish essential requirements of the positon.  Requires the ability to travel by aircraft and automobile to remote locations as needed, and the ability to drive/operate an automobile.

Expected Hours of Work:
Position will require standard work hours of Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm, including occasional evenings or weekends for corporate events, seminars or trade shows.

Must be eligible to work in the United States.
